What Causes Fibromyalgia?

While this remains a matter of debate, a connection has been seen between trauma to the upper neck and/or head and the onset of fibromyalgia, even many years later. This area of the neck is particularly susceptible to damage due to its range of motion. If a misalignment has occurred to either the C1 or C2 vertebra, this can negatively affect the central nervous system. Communication to and from the brain and body are also hindered, and undue pressure is placed on the brainstem. All of these factors lead to the perfect environment for fibromyalgia to begin.

Fibromyalgia and Hendersonville North Carolina
At The Apple Valley Clinic of Chiropractic, we have been able to help many patients see a decrease in symptoms by using a gentle procedure to realign the neck vertebrae. We do not use popping or force the spine into place. Rather we use a gentle technique that allows the body to restore its natural regenerative process bringing about healing to the damaged parts of the neck and brain. Subsequent adjustments are based on whether or not the patient is in need of them. Adjustments are not given when not necessary.

Dietary changes often help also. Eliminating such things as artificial sweeteners and increasing protein, foods rich in iodine (seaweed), and drinking more water can help the body cope with the problems brought on by fibromyalgia.

Often, patients have reported seeing much improvement in their overall health and, particularly, in the symptoms of fibromyalgia.
